About Emily

North Devon Explorers has been set up by me (Emily) to help you discover the hidden treasures that this beautiful part of the UK has to offer.

I have always had a passion for exploring new places. This passion has led me to pursue a career in the outdoor industry by guiding swimming holidays and leading overseas expeditions to places such as Borneo’s Jungle and the Madagascan plains.  Not only do I love to wear my backpack and practice my bushcraft skills but I have also swum the English Channel and was the first British female to successfully swim the Cook Strait in New Zealand.

Other adventures that I have done are: racing the Yukon 1000 with my husband-a 1000 mile canoe trip from Canada to Alaska down the Yukon, camping and surviving in the remote wilderness whilst avoiding the bears.  I have also completed the gruelling Devizes to Westminster Canoe race twice.

North Devon’s beauty and natural playground lured me to it, and whilst living here, I have walked miles across the moors and along the coastal path with my dog and my baby on my back.  I love taking to the sea and rivers which allows me to see the stunning landscape and wildlife from a very different perspective.

I have left very few stones unturned and I would love to pass on my discoveries to you, sharing with you the hidden delights of North Devon!
